The digital era of computers and technology brings with it a new and easy way to scrapbook that will allow you to share your creations with friends and family anywhere in the world. Because scrapbooking is an art form for storing precious photos, image capture is an essential part of scrapbooking. When you take your film to the local film processor (most pharmacies offer film processing), just ask to have a set of your pictures on a CD-ROM (as well as printed paper if you need print copies). Most film processing centers will have the capability and equipment to fill duplicate your photos on to CD-ROM. Then you just insert that disc into the CD-ROM drive on your computer. Save the photos to your hard drive and you're all set. Simple!
If you already have printed photos that you would like to use for your digital scrapbooking, it is a simple matter to digitise the photos by scanning them into your computer. If you don't have a scanner, your local photo processing agency will most likely be able to digitise your photos relatively inexpensively. This then allows you to always keep your original printed photograph.
One major advantage here is that once you have the digital photo on your computer, you can edit it to to make changes that you could never do with the paper original - from cropping, enlaging and color enhancing to make your image better than the original. You can also add text and other embellishments to make a truly unique work of art.
